projects, site development, and linear projects including wind power,
transmission lines, and gas pipelines.
We have extensive experience in all aspects of dam safety work under Part 12
of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regulations, including:
- Independent Dam Safety Inspections
- Potential Failure Mode Analysis
- Preparation of Supporting Technical Information
- Dam stability analysis
- Dam rehabilitation/reconstruction for stabilization and increasing
spillway capacity
Design of hydroelectric structures and project facilities includes:
- Concrete gravity and earthen embankment dams and water retaining
structures
- Uncontrolled and gated spillways
- Intake structures
- Water conveyance systems
- Fish passage systems
- Powerhouses
DTA has experience in the design of equipment associated with spillway
and intake structures including:
- Flashboard systems (including inflatable systems)
- Trashracks
- Trash rake systems
- Gates
General civil design experience also includes:
- Site grading roadways
- Erosion and sedimentation control
- Stormwater management
- Riverbank stabilization

Graham Lake Dam Rehabilitation
When Bangor Hydro Electric needed a consultant to solve
embankment stability issues on the Graham Lake Dam, they hired the expert
engineers at DTA. The project was the subject of papers presented at the ASCE
1993 Geotechnical Specialty Conference on Dam Rehabilitation, the Association of
State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) 1994 Annual Convention and ASCE’s 1995
Seismic Design in the State of Maine Technical Seminar.

Schaghticoke Rehabilitation
When Orion Power New York faced disruption to a water
conveyance system, DTA engineers completed the extensive Schaghticoke penstock
and surge tank replacement on a significantly compressed schedule.
