Hydroelectric Projects Condition Assessment and Valuation Services
A major utility in the Western United States was considering the sale or
decommissioning of marginally profitable hydroelectric projects. A nearby water
user was interested in acquiring the projects for water delivery and other
benefits, in addition to power generation. In discussions between the parties,
major questions arose regarding the remaining life and current value of these
projects.
Devine Tarbell & Associates (DTA) was retained by the acquiring party to
evaluate the condition of the project facilities and equipment. Services
included estimating the remaining life of the project and estimates of future
operation and maintenance costs. The client used an assessment report provided
by DTA engineers in negotiations with the project owner.
