Umbazooksus Lake Wetland Enhancement; Great Northern Paper, Inc.
Devine Tarbell & Associates (DTA) developed a final wetland enhancement plan, which included a feasibility assessment of the enhancement measure stipulated by the license articles, evaluation of alternative measures, working with GNP and a team of natural resource agency representative to select the wetland enhancement plan. Following FERC’s approval of the final wetland enhancement plan, DTA staff was retained by GNP to monitor the recover and development of wetlands as required under the articles of the license. Project implementation began in the spring of 1998. DTA’s staff provided periodic monitoring of the wetlands enhancement area to assess progress toward enhancement objectives. Biannual monitoring reports document the status and trends of vegetation cover an species composition within the enhancement areas, and are submitted by GNPP t o FERC and the consulting agencies for review.
